Alternative Event and Donation Opportunities
Murder Mystery Dinner Parties, hosted in your home
These three hour games are designed for 10 — 12 people and each guest is an assigned player in the Mystery Game! There are many different themes from which to choose. The "Who Killed Al Capone?" Murder Mystery game took place in the roaring twenties! Hosting or attending a party is a really fun way to spend an evening with friends and help disadvantages children. Youth Team Sponsored Car Wash
Focus on leadership, team building and management and FUNdraising using a Brilliant Structure for participation. It is simple, yet hugely effective fundraising for Youth, 12 years or older. Donate Your Membership Miles
You can donate your membership miles to COCI at www.americanexpress.com/give.
Donate Appreciated Securities In Lieu Of Cash
In lieu of donating cash, you can transfer ownership of stocks you own to COCI. COCI will then sell them and use the cash for its programs. Donating in this way creates a win-win situation for both you and COCI, especially if you have stocks in your investment portfolio that have significantly appreciated in value.
Specific Advantages to Donating Shares of Stock:
- It provides an alternative to making a cash donation.
- It's a great way to unload an asset that has significantly appreciated in value without having to pay capital gains taxes.
- In fact, you can take a tax deduction for the full market value of the asset on the day it is transferred to COCI, which means that not only is your tax liability not increased, it's actually decreased!!!
Additional Option for Donors with IRA Accounts:
- Donors who are age 70 1/2 or older, who must take minimum distributions from their IRAs each year, can currently make gifts of up to $100,000 with those minimum distributions without having to pay takes on the distributed amounts.
