Learn about Children First, COCI's support of orphans and poverty stricken children in Kenya.
For 15 years Cherish Our Children International has been bringing miracles into the lives of the world's most vulnerable children and we are proud to present to you our organization's first Annual Report. This report will provide you with a snapshot of the important work that we have undertaken and the difference that we are truly making in the lives of so many.
We spent this past year focusing in on serving the children and the communities that they live in, as well as completing the final tasks of our three year comprehensive strategic plan. We have emerged with clear, focused direction for our signature programs and have instituted new policies and procedures that bring rigor and transparency to our organization. We will spend the next year refining our processes to ensure that we are accountable for our efforts, and we will continue to evaluate our programs to insure that we are meeting the needs of those we strive to serve.
We are humbled by the exceptional generosity of thousands of individuals, corporations and foundations who have supported our efforts over this past year. In Romania, this support has allowed us to complete the final phase of our outreach to HIV teens. We were able to provide health care, education, food and medicine. In Serbia, we provided transportation to medical, educational and social programs for severely disabled and disadvantaged children and their families. In Kenya, we have been able to continue our support of a day care/ residential center servicing over 150 children in Kisumu , as well as providing outreach to over 25 homestead families. We were also able to support a soccer program in Israel that serves as a bridge between Jewish and Arab children and to pilot a program that brings Palestinian and Israeli children together on the same team. Additionally, we supported a program in the United States that brings early childhood education services to the most vulnerable children in Texas as well as a program that provides mentoring, tutoring and counseling services to high-risk children of incarcerated parents.
While we have made significant progress over this past year, we recognize that there is still much more work to be done. We hope that with your continued support and commitment we will be able to expand our efforts to meet the needs of even more children around the world in the coming years.
