In January, 2007, Cherish our children international was approved a project grant for sponsorship to expand beyond Kenya in Nigeria.
Lagos Home for Motherless Babies in Nigeria
In reaction to the horrific conditions in which Nigerian children live, COCI has committed to providing basic needs to a home in Lagos. As in many other countries in Africa, the AIDS pandemic has left the majority of children without mothers and fathers. Furthermore, food is scarce, and medical care is non-existent. There are no doors on the buildings these children call home, and their facilities do not have air conditioning. The Lagos Home for Motherless Babies will provide a more secure, safe environment for infants, as well as basic supplies such as diapers, infant formula, clothes, and furniture.
These Orphans have very little support and we know we can make a difference each and every day in the health and welfare of these children. COCI is working with volunteers to assist in setting up an NGO in Nigeria.
