Humanitarian Support for Conflict Affected Persons and Communities in South Darfur, Sudan
COCI is working in partnership with the American Refugee Committee International to provide reproductive health and primary health care services at the ElWidha Clinic and the Nyala Women's Prison in Nyala Town. Specifically, we will support Women and Children's Wellness Events that will include health education and behavior change activities as well as distribute health and hygiene supplies to all participants. We will also support the distribution of clean-delivery kits and newborn kits to be used in the Labor and Delivery Room in the prison. In order to prevent the shortage of these kits in the future, we will be supporting the establishment of a clean-delivery kit and newborn kit production at the prison as part of a skills building project. Finally, we will support the effort to improve the conditions within the prison for the young children by developing a child-friendly space within the prison for the children to play outdoors.
COCI's goal is to assist ARC in helping to meet the immediate humanitarian needs by strengthening primary and reproductive health care services through the active promotion of good health care practices among the inmates at Nyala Women's Prison and women and children served by the ElWihda Clinic.
